Welcome to the home of Scubaboard's knowledgable and nutty divers of fresh cold water.
First of all:
Why do we torture ourselves to dive in this water that has claimed so many ships?
Many of the ships in the Great Lakes are over a hundred years old. The notorious storms of the region claimed many fine vessels. However, these vessels are well-preserved for the most part and a lesson in nautical history. The reason for this preservation is the combination of cold water without the salt that exists in so many other shipwreck graveyards in the world. We have the privilege of being able to observe a small cross-section of our heritage by diving on these wrecks. This site will have many photos showing our respect for these underwater museums that we call shipwrecks.
We will have shore dive sites for those that want to dive locally without having to hire a boat and a list of popular wrecks with information from our members sorted by individual lake.
Shore diving sites will be sorted by state. Again, all input will come from our members.
Both of these libraries will be added to over time, so stay tuned and put us on your favorites.
